1969:
First branch in Munich and expansion to Austria
In connection with the construction projects for the 1972 Olympic Games, several larger orders could be acquired. In order to be close to clients and employees, the first branch of our HR business was opened in Munich in 1969.
A trend-setting development, because the way to Austria was not far from here. The subsidiary REX was founded in Vienna shortly afterwards. In addition to Vienna, REX is now also active in Linz, Salzburg and Graz.
1975: Relocation
From Hamburg to Moringen
When, in the mid-1970s, a general period of economic weakness made it necessary to reconsider the corporate strategy, those responsible decided to relocate the company location to Moringen. Hamburg will be continued as a branch.
"We were a small company looking for a small town," says owner Gerd-Hinrich Döscher. A capable Moringen town director managed to convince KÖNIG to choose his town as a new location.
Ten years after the company was founded, the first plots of land were purchased at the current company headquarters on Nienhagener Straße and a production hall was built. In 1975, production, sales, assembly and the company's approximately 200 employees finally arrived in southern Lower Saxony.
The new location in the middle of Germany also proved to be advantageous in the course of the opening of the border. For example, many new specialists could be recruited for personnel services. Many of you are still part of the regular KÖNIG team.
